Our Philosophy
Learning is a personal experience. Optimum learning occurs when instruction focuses on the individual's strengths, interests and rate of progress.
Each student is gifted in at least one area. Their gifts may be linguistic, musical, logical-mathematical, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, and intra-personal. Rather than finding an educational program that your child can fit into, we create a program that fits your child. Oftentimes, school programs actually prevent our children from pursuing their gifts due to schedule, curriculum structure and the homogenous nature of group learning.
Students enjoy learning when they are active participants in the learning process. By actively seeking student participation in the education process, students develop responsibility and enthusiasm for learning. Learning is no longer restricted to school, but rather becomes integrated into all activities.
The Halstrom's program allows students to set their own pace and schedule. Personalized schedules allow time for family, employment, volunteer service, sports and social activities which help them excel, both academically and socially.
There are many benefits of this personalized approach to learning:
Students and teachers interact closely to achieve mastery of learning objectives.
The self-discipline required to effectively work independently transfers to success in college and in a wide range of careers.
Students become life-long learners who discover and develop their unique gifts and talents.
